Native plants …
   made in the shade

Woods' Edge Farm sells wildflowers native to the woodlands and savannas of the upper midwest.

All of our plants are:

  • Nursery-propagated.
In order to maintain maximum genetic diversity, most species are propagated from seeds collected from open-pollinated plants. A few species are propagated vegetatively by division or runners.

  • Of a Wisconsin genotype.

  • Container-grown.
Potted plants with good root systems are easy to transplant spring through fall.

  • Made in the shade.
Although many of the species we propagate are adaptable to a range of growing conditions, we specialize in plants that will perform well in shady places. All of our plants are grown under shade cloth providing 50% to 78% shade.

  • At least one year old.
Most species are of flowering age.

Go to plant pictures to see examples of the species we sell. (Or click on a link in the list of plant species to the right to see photos of that species.)
